Ep 208 Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery : Do You Expect Us To Talk?

Do You Expect Us To Talk? returns to review a new series… well, sort of. We return to the spy genre as it lampoons itself with Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, as Mike Myers plays a swinging British spy from the 60’s who is frozen in time until 1990s, then reanimated to take on his arch nemesis Dr Evil. Join us in our reviewmentary, as we watch the Austin Powers series and review them in commentary form.

Join Becca, Dave and Chris as we discuss how the swinging 60’s never really happened, how Will Ferrell has not had many funny movies as one would think, how Dave has done well not cheating on Elizabeth Hurley, Britpop, and we spot all the cameos.

Merry Christmas Everyone. It’s January, the festive season has come and gone, but seeing as Christmas has been cancelled (in the UK anyway) , here’s our 2020 Christmas episode. Sorry for the delay but this year it’s Chris’s choice and it’s the Arnie Classic Jingle All The Way. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a workaholic dad who forgot to buy his son a Turbo Man doll, the season’s hottest toy. In an attempt to live up to his promises and not let his son down, he has to dash across the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul on Christmas Eve. Hilarity ensues.

Join Becca, Dave and Chris as we watch and discuss the Buzz Lightyear craze, how Arnie gives 100%, the late great Phil Hartman, the tragedy of Jake Lloyd, where did Sinbad go (or come from for that matter), why isn’t this starring Tom Hanks, and other Christmas films.

Do You Expect Us To Talk Christmas Commentary : Trading Places

Seasons greetings everyone, Do You Expect Us To Talk? is back with a festive commentary, late in the game but hopefully will prove a new year treat rather than a Christmas one. This year the team have chosen Trading Places. This classic directed by John Landis, is a twist on The Prince and the Pauper story, where upper-class commodities broker and a homeless street hustler, are exchanged as part of a bet made by stock brokers The Duke Brothers.

Join Becca, Dave and Chris as we watch and discuss how great Eddie Murphy’s first few movies were and why that doesn’t include Best Defence, the acting skills of Dan Ackroyd, how Trading Places is a Christmas movie for all seasons, how to get away with black face and eating salmon with dirty Santa beard.

Ep 168 A View to a Kill commentary : Do You Expect Us To Talk?

Do You Expect Us To Talk? returns with another Bond commentary. This time we redo a previous commentary we released to do it justice. In our previous commentary for A View To A Kill, we were joined by Mark O’Connell where we mostly talk about his book and his connection with the franchise. It was a good episode but we felt this film was ripe for proper commentary treatment.

Join Becca, Dave and Chris as we discuss, Bond’s pulling technique, Q is really an old pervert, Chris doesn’t recognised Daniel Benzali, how everyone is old, Stacy Dooley, is Christopher Walken playing a good villain or just being Walken and what is the correct wine to have with eggs?

It’s commentary time again and we go back to Bond for a quick pitstop before we delve into another series. With the plot of Thunderball this is one story and character that Kevin McClory could not let go, only this time it stars Edward Snowden.

Join Becca, Dave and Chris and we discuss as we watch Rowan Atkinson not being funny, Sean Connery’s toupee in action, how official is this film, is this Largo a better villain, the creepiest masseur and was Kim Basinger fit?

It’s commentary time for Do You Expect Us To Talk? as we transition into another franchise. These commentaries a regular stop gap to revisit Bond and since its been a while, Dave chose one of our favourites, Casino Royale. The starting point to our current Bond was a reset for the franchise as Daniel Craig gives a blistering debut.

Sit back and listen as Becca, Dave and Chris discuss why Little Britain isn’t talked about any more, not Edward Norton, the interest in looking at dead bodies, Michael G Wilsons cameos, differences in airline versions and Judi Dench’s chest.
