What follows is a detective story that leads to clone army, shifty politics and a love story to end all love stories.

Back when Darth Vader was a kid taking part in space desert death races, he is found by a pre-Taken Liam Neeson to who decides to train him as a Jedi, therefore ultimately allowing the empire to rise up and take control of the galaxy. All wrapped up in a plot of all the fun sci-fi stuff such as tax, trade federations and politics.

Do You Expect Us To Talk Will Return with Return of the Jedi

Ep 87 Star Wars – A New Hope : Do You Expect Us To Talk?

Do You Expect Us To Talk joined forces with Charlie Brigden long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. In what is possibly the biggest franchise ever, we take on Star Wars. Going in order of release date, we start with the best and prepare for a steady decline in quality. A New Hope (Oridgaly just Star Wars) follows two droids who run from the evil Empire with a message from a princess. They find themselves in the hands of a young farm boy with dreams of leaving and seeing the galaxy. This sends him on a dangerous adventure where he discovers there’s more to him than meets the eye.

Join Becca, Chris, Dave and special guest Charlie as we discuss what influenced Star Wars, appropriate corpses for kids, Jabba micromanaging his bounty hunters, Greedo shooting first, pink fluffy slippers and why the fuck can’t George leave the films alone or at least make the old ones available?

Charlie has his own website and podcast called Moviedrone, please check it out and subscribe.

The Bastnerds are back Baby back

The Bastnerds are back once again after taking some time off (What again?).. and this time we are multitasking by watching the world cup.

Well when I say WE I mean Scott @Celluloidical and Ian @i_nesbot while I @CinemaTronix watch some film with Chuck Norris in.

So in this episode I explain the concept of the renaming and the idea of The Geek Soapbox. We catch up with the things we have seen over the last couple of months.

Scott realises he didn’t like the last Muppet movie and explains the continuity of X-Men Days of Future Past and more talk about The Lego Movie and some thoughts about the new Godzilla movie.

All that and much more…. please feel free to follow us on twitter, we’re quite chatty and usually reply back.

You can send your comments and feedback or if you like to join us and take part in one of our podcasts then send an email to geeksoapbox@gmail.com and stay tuned for more banter in the podcast form and some more commentary tracks and Top 5’s.

Thanks for listening and enjoy.

Allan Wood’s (My So Called Brain) Top 5 podcast

Its podcast time and this is a re-record with Allan Wood who I managed to drag back for a second time around as the audio from last time was just poor.

So as it is a Top 5 podcast, this is where Allan discusses his top 5 favourite films. At least two of them are related to George Lucas which is becoming a common thing in these podcasts. We also talk about a beloved favourite of mine as well as a 90’s classic and our first animated entry to Top 5.

We also take the time to go off on tangents, particularly at the end where we go into the new Liam  Neeson film Non-Stop as well as cinema etiquette, mobile phones, Glee and the sadly no nearly enough seen Frailty.

Star Wars Return of the Jedi : Commentary Track

So we have finally arrived at the end of the saga. The first time I’ve ever watched the series in chronological order.

Join me @CinemaTronix and Scott @Celluloidical as we sit down and finish things off with Return of the Jedi. With a few audio interference sadly (bloody mobile phones) and a few annoying sneezes (bloody dust) we talk all over the last of the Star Wars film (until 2015). This is the one with the most childhood memories for us and with hands down the best emperor momologs.

Scott also talks about Lando’s costume change that didn’t happen, I disscuss what use C-3P0 has anyway  and we discover the joys of Ewok subtitles…… enjoy.

Commentary Track : Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back

It’s commentary time again and this time and Chris (@CinemaTronix) and Scott (@Celluloidical) take on what is mainly seen as the best film in the series. The Empire Strikes Back.

This is the film that feels the least messed with but we still find time to moan about the prequels and do stupid impressions. Plus Chris wonders if Empire had more action in it, it would indeed be the better film.

Star Wars Revenge of the Sith : Commentary Track

So we have reached the half way point in this 6 film saga. Chris (@CinemaTronix) and Scott (@Celluloidical) take the the big one in the prequel trilogy, the one where Anakin turns to the dark side (Spoiler Alert) This film as the best and the worst elements of the prequelas, and also this….

So if you fancy watching a trilogy with so much potential go down the drain, why not listen to us while you do it, or just listen to two idiots laugh, cry and do random impressions as they explain why these film really do suck.

You can email us at ibastnerds@gmail.com and why not leave a lovely review on iTunes.

Thanks for listening and sorry for watching.

Star Wars Attack of the Clones : Commentary

Hey is another commentary track with Chris (@CinemaTronix) and Scott (@Celluloidical) and next in our Star Wars marathon we sit through Attack of the Clones. This time we moan and complain of about a film where all the main characters do is moan and complain. Witness the next stage of how not to follow up a  saga.

Sit back and enjoy to our dulcet tones doing emperor Palpatine impressions while George destroys everyone’s childhood dreams.

Next up is the piste de resistance with Renege of the Sith. Things can only get better from then on in.
